if you have incompatible applications built for older Windows OS (98, 2000, ME, XP, Vista) like games and apps like (older versions of Visual Studio) right click the .exe file then select properties, then select compatibility tab, On Compatibility mode check run this program in compatibility mode for (select lower OS Settings example if you're in Windows 8/8,1 choose Windows 7) and under Privilege Level, check Run this program as an administrator if and only if it requires admin access.
